  • THE CARNIVAL BROTHERS

    THE CARNIVAL BROTHERS

    PRESENT THEIR NEW VIDEO FOR

    ‘THE SUN IS GONNA SHINE’

    AVAILABLE NOW ON iTUNES

The Carnival Brothers are travelling pilgrims – four distinct characters that inhabit the space between light and dark, night and day, that other world where our brightest dreams and darkest fantasies meet.

Blessed with the face of the devil and the voice of an angel, legend has it lead singer Ger “Wolfman” Eaton perfected his extraordinary vocal technique as a young boy, taming wolves with the travelling Carnival.

Johnny “Vegas” – The Joker in the pack, plays guitar, mandolin, keys and every card trick known to man, as well as a few unknown. Johnny was discovered in a downtown casino when the carnival first hit Vegas.

The Fox provides the steady backbone that keeps the brothers live and dangerous with a sleuth and wit befitting of his name. The “face” of the band and a bona fide ladykiller, The Fox also plays bass.

Binzer, the brother with rhythm pulsing through his fingertips keeps the beat on drums when it’s showtime. Off stage, he likes to stay on the edge with a spot of fire eating and sword swallowing.

Bella a Go Go adds the burlesque glamour and sex appeal that keeps the boys in line, the punters lining up night after night and most importantly, the dealer’s eyes off the table.

The Carnival Brothers debut single “The Sun is Gonna Shine” due out July 5th evokes all the nostalgia of yesteryear and with its dreamy summer sound and infectious melodies, it will coax you out of the darkness and into a world of pure joy and escapism.

  • Julie Feeney nominated for 3rd Choice Music Prize with her new album Clocks

    JULIE FEENEY

Julie Feeney released her third self-produced album Clocks in November, 2012.  Clocks went straight into the Independent Irish Album Charts at No. 1 and was voted ‘Best Album’ 2012 in The Irish Times ‘Album of the Year’ category for The Ticket Awards as voted by The Irish Times readers.

Clocks is Julie’s third release which has been nominated for the Choice Music Prize ‘Irish Album of The Year’.  Her 2005 debut album, 13 Songs, won the Choice Music Prize in 2006, which was followed by Pages in 2010 which was also shortlisted for the Irish Album Of The Year prize.

Hailed by the New York Times as “charming, urbane and dreamy…theatrical on the shell, intricate at the core”, Julie’s sound is unquestionably original, rooted in classical whilst comfortably straddling pop and theatre. Clocks was written in Ballinahinch Castle and Lough Inagh Cottages in Galway and recorded at Kylemore Abbey Gothic Church, a return to home ground for Julie.

Taking an avant-garde approach to her live performances, Julie toured Ireland around Clock’s release in November by scoring music for ten different choirs to part accompany her at each concert over 10 different consecutive nights in 10 different towns in Ireland.

For her recent sell-out 10 show run in New York City, the New York Times said of Julie, “…intricate, articulate…draws on sources across centuries…Ms. Feeney’s songs don’t shout. They tease, ponder, reminisce, philosophize and invent parables, and she sings them in a plush, changeable mezzo-soprano that usually holds a kindly twinkle”. The New York Times concluded, “…a brainy adventurous songwriter lives within the flamboyant theatricality…with songs that set character studies and philosophical musings in elaborate musical confections, often with long, internally rhymed lines… Theatrical on the shell, intricate at the core”. Sharp witted, unpretentious and fiercely passionate, Julie Feeney is a genuine artist and a hugely enjoyable performer.

Julie will return to Ireland to perform at this year’s Choice Music Prize before going back to New York, where she is preparing to preview ‘Clocks’ live in the U.S. this Spring”.

Julie is also currently composing her first opera, ‘BIRD’ and the first developmental stage was shown in 2012 at Dublin Theatre Festival. It is a co-commission by Dublin Theatre Festival, Galway Arts Festival, Cork Midsummer Festival and Kilkenny Arts Festival. She is a true artist with immense vision.

  • Solar Taxi release ‘Parcels’ on 1st March & announce Irish Tour

     Solar Taxi (logo)

    ‘Parcels’

New single & video releasing March 1st

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFOispDpw7Y

“From beginning to end, this is a strong, enchanting album. Solar Taxi has quite a future in front of them”  45 Revolutions
    “…a breathtaking debut…8/10”  Shout 4 Music
“…infectious, thumping & glorious for starters…” – “a lively and entertaining pop dance debut that lives up to expectations ****”  The Star
“Solar Taxi’s debut album works as a hook filled introduction to one of the most exciting new bands in Irish music.” The Blend
“..doesn’t disappoint… a finely executed (pop album) that’s damn sure to put a smile on your face”  Hotpress
“…upbeat discoera Blondie style tunes with the formidable Browne at the centre with the astounding vocal power of a young Aretha Franklin….”  The Sun

With a stellar 2012 behind them, Solar Taxi are kicking off 2013 with the single release of ‘Parcels’ on March 1st.  Written in the studio by vocalist Aisling Browne as a last minute addition to their debut album ‘Broken Brother’s Secret Bells’, this orchestral slow burner is regarded by many as the finest track on this diverse album.

Having previously hit the airwaves and bagging licensing opportunities with upbeat tracks such as ‘Gung Ho’ & ‘The Fool’, Solar Taxi display a different side with ‘Parcels’. The single is a radio edit of the near 7 minute opus on the album, and sees the band in fine form as they raise the track to a cinematic climax. They are joined by the Violin & Cello skills of Michelle Haberlin & Jessica Maderson.

Solar Taxi and Laundry Shop are performing a double headliner in Whelan’s of Wexford Street, Dublin on 21st March and Roisin Dublin in Galway on 24 March.

Accompanying the single release is a beautifully shot video by Quincy productions – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFOispDpw7Y
