TG4’s Téacs Taistil Returns with Its Most Action-Packed Season Yet

New Series Begins Thursday 2 April at 9.30 pm on TG4

Téacs Taistil returns to TG4 on Thursday 2 April at 9.30 pm with its most action-packed and ambitious season yet. Now in its fourth series, the hit travel show once again sees its fearless presenters dive headfirst into communities around the globe with higher stakes, tougher challenges and plenty of mighty craic along the way.

From the blazing heart of Chicago to the buzzing backstreets of Toronto, from the sun-soaked shores of Larnaca to the historic streets of Bucharest and Rhodes, this season is about more than sightseeing. It’s about rolling up sleeves, immersing in local life and connecting with people from the inside out.

Leading the charge is Louise Cantillon, one of Ireland’s best-known radio (Today FM) and television presenters. A Limerick native and co-creator of the hugely popular How To Gael podcast, Louise is known for championing the Irish language in a modern, accessible and entertaining way. A qualified Irish and PE teacher, she brings warmth, intelligence and infectious energy to every destination. Whether exploring the hidden corners of Toronto’s Chinatown or stepping into the world of burlesque in Chicago, Louise throws herself into every challenge with sharp wit, quick humour and fearless curiosity.

Louise Cantillon says: “From burlesque clubs in Chicago to crying under the Niagara Falls and dancing along the great walls of Derry, this series sent us on some adventure. Heading stateside leis an gcriú ar fad was a real highlight. The world feels mad these days, but what struck me about making this series is how much craic, kindness and pure character you find when you go looking for it. Everywhere we went there were brilliant people ready to join in the madness and get involved leis na Gaels ar an mbóthar.

It’s been the most fun I’ve had making television — totally chaotic, but full of magic moments that had us laughing and crying long after the cameras stopped rolling. Bain súp as.”

Joining her once again is Séaghan Ó Súilleabháin, better known as The Kerry Cowboy. Séaghan first began posting about farm life in the heart of Co. Kerry on social media in 2020, often alongside his loyal sheepdog Braindí. His humorous and authentic take on rural life quickly attracted a large following, with more than 250,000 people now tuning in to his adventures online. That popularity has since launched a career as a TV presenter. Through Téacs Taistil, Séaghan has swapped fields for far-flung destinations, but he carries his passion for agriculture, nature, Irish language and culture wherever he goes. A modern Irish cultural storyteller rooted in Kerry, he uses language, landscape and humour to make Irish feel lived-in rather than preserved.

Séaghan Ó Súilleabháin says:
“From exploring abandoned buildings in Bucharest to milking donkeys in Cyprus, season four has managed to be our most unpredictable series yet. As well as the usual craic and madness, we dig deeper into the stories of the places we visit. No spoilers, but I have to say our visit to Derry will stay with me for a lifetime.

Crossing the Atlantic was a whole new frontier and I’m looking forward to seeing our individual adventures as well as shared memories like Niagara Falls. It’s all to come in season four of Téacs Taistil. Yee haw!”

Adding a distinctive perspective is Proinsias Ó Coinn, podcaster and storyteller from Armagh, best known for his work with BBC Radio 4. The series’ most eclectic traveller, Proinsias approaches each destination armed with curiosity, careful preparation — and often a supply of pre-cooked turkey burgers. A natural communicator, he immerses himself in the lives of those he meets, whether chatting with royalty in Bucharest or learning traditional halloumi-making in Cyprus. Thoughtful, eccentric and quietly hilarious, Proinsias offers an alternative lens on each adventure, reminding viewers that the best journeys often happen through conversation.

Proinsias Ó Coinn says: “I think viewers are going to be surprised by series four of Téacs Taistil because everything has been taken up a level — the challenges are more bizarre, the characters we meet are like none we’ve met before, the locations are stunning and the craic between the three of us continues with the lovely addition of Laura.”

He also won the Radio Documentary category at the Celtic Film and Television Festival for his documentary Lacrimosa.

Season four also brings a surprise twist, with Ros na Rún star Laura Ní hAoidhne joining the gang for several episodes. Originally from Ballybofey, Laura is an accomplished actress and online reporter who is also deeply committed to advocacy work, collaborating with Women’s Aid on initiatives including Too Into You and Miles for Mná. Warm, fearless and endlessly curious, she brings fresh energy to the series — whether stepping up to the plate with the Milwaukee Milkmen to learn the ropes of baseball, brewing Greek coffee in Rhodes or sailing the Mediterranean in Larnaca.

Laura Ní hAoidhne says:
“Téacs Taistil series four was nothing like I expected. Having watched the first three series and the craic and cairdeas between Louise, Proinsias and Séaghan, I was buzzing to finally get a taste of it myself. The show takes you into corners of the world and into the lives of people that you simply wouldn’t see anywhere else.

I found myself doing things I never thought I would and being put in situations I definitely hadn’t imagined, both physically and mentally! And without giving too much away, there was far more poo involved than I expected… in more than one episode. The perks of being the newbie!

We got to explore the real nooks and crannies of Rhodes, meet characters in Romania who completely change your perspective on life — and even encounter a group of 30 hunks in Milwaukee.”

Across the new season, the presenters suit up with the Chicago Fire Department, soar above city skylines in helicopters, explore Pride celebrations in Toronto, dive into Derry’s jazz scene, encounter the legacy of the Knights of St John in Rhodes and host an Irish céilí in Bucharest. From Niagara Falls to Milwaukee, Chicago to Cyprus, each episode goes beyond tourism to celebrate the people, traditions and communities that give each destination its soul.

This isn’t about ticking landmarks off a list. It’s about connection, culture and full immersion.

Téacs Taistil airs on Thursday’s at 9.30 pm on TG4 from 2 April.
