Fresh from a headline performance at the Luke Kelly Festival in Dublin, a nationwide Irish tour this spring, a major UK tour and seven sold-out shows at Dublin’s Gaiety Theatre, The Dubliners Encore returns to the capital for three special performances at Dublin’s iconic Vicar Street in Friday 28 & Saturday 29 August 2026.
Created and produced by John and Ceoladh Sheahan, with musical direction by Phil Coulter, The Dubliners Encore is the official stage show celebrating the music, stories and legacy of Ireland’s most beloved folk band. Featuring a cast of exceptional musicians handpicked by John Sheahan, the show brings classics including The Wild Rover, Seven Drunken Nights, The Black Velvet Band, Whiskey in the Jar and The Irish Rover back to life for a new generation.
Narrated by Imelda May, the production combines music, storytelling and rare insight into the lives of Luke Kelly, Ronnie Drew, Barney McKenna, Ciarán Bourke and John Sheahan, charting the extraordinary journey of a band that sold more than 40 million records and helped bring Irish folk music to audiences around the world.
Speaking about the Vicar Street announcement, John Sheahan said: “Vicar Street was the scene of many memorable Dubliners gigs. It’s a unique venue where the audience and the band merge together into what feels like one harmonious lock-in. And of course, it’s where I celebrated my 80th birthday on stage with a host of wonderful singers and musicians. Returning to Vicar Street this August to once again share our story and songs with new audiences is sure to bring the memories flooding back.”
Producer Ceoladh Sheahan added: “The response since launching The Dubliners Encore has been incredible. From standing ovations and sold-out theatres to the fantastic reception we received at the Luke Kelly Festival and across our recent Irish tour, audiences continue to show just how much these songs and stories mean to them. We’re delighted to bring the show to Vicar Street for the first time and to continue celebrating the legacy of The Dubliners with audiences old and new.”
Following sold-out performances across Ireland, the UK and Germany, The Dubliners Encore continues to captivate audiences with an authentic and heartfelt celebration of one of the most influential bands in Irish music history.www.dublinersencore.com
