Sadnecessary’ the debut album from German alternative electronic sensation Milky Chance – #1 in the German, Austrian, Australia, Swiss, French and Belgium iTunes charts, is scheduled for Irish release on 4th July and & UK release 7th July through Ignition Records.

Clemens (vocals and guitar) and Philipp (DJ) met in an “Advanced Music Course” at the start of eleventh grade, and they immediately gelled when it came to music. They played in a local band until graduation, even though the group disbanded, Clemens and Philipp kept on making music. Weaving together elegant electronic production with acoustic guitars and lilting, lush vocals, they harnessed a style unequivocally their own.

Last year in their tiny self-built studio the duo cut their full-length debut ‘Sadnecessary’ and last summer they released it on their own Lichtdicht Records in Europe. Within a few weeks, lead single Stolen Dance’ had reached number one on Hype Machine. To date ‘Stolen Dance’ has received over 40 million Youtube views, topped iTunes and Shazam charts across the world and was BBC Radio 1’s Record of the Day and song of the week on Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show on Today FM.

Using only their own Facebook pages and their nascent label’s infrastructure for promotion, the band have just finished a run of 100 sold-out European dates, driving themselves across the continent with a set of decks and a couple of guitars. They wowed audiences in the U.K at The Great Escape and a sold out show at London’s newest venue Oslo, which saw eager teenagers queue from 9 a.m to catch the duo’s live set.

Within electronic music the vocals tend to be an afterthought, but with Milky Chance, the lyrics are absolutely paramount and ultimately, because of that emotional expanse, these songs will continue to resonate loudly with listeners everywhere.
